Mary Halvorson Quartet

Mary Halvorson Quartet is an American contemporary jazz ensemble formed in the mid-to-late 2000s, emerging from the Boston and New York avant-garde jazz scenes. Their music blends avant-garde and experimental jazz with elements of rock and free improvisation, emphasising composed frameworks alongside collective improvisation, guitar effects and rhythmic unpredictability, and is associated with the contemporary downtown/avant-garde jazz movement.
