Radiohead and the Haunted Mansion Sessions
Summer 1997, and Radiohead were bracing for OK Computer. The album was finished — tracked in a haunted Elizabethan pile near Bath — but barely released, and already leaking across the internet. Holed up at Colin Greenwood's place after a bruising spell touring Japan, the band picked over a record they suspected had changed them.
“One day, I’m convinced we’re going to be on the internet and we’ll find an option to download an album we haven’t even started recording yet.”
“I think what we’re basically saying on this album, which is borne out by our little sojourn around the virtual world, is that computers are OK.”
“No. No I don’t. I’m not convinced.”
