Orchestra Sinfonica e Coro dell’ EIAR di Torino originated in Turin as the resident symphony orchestra and choir of EIAR, the Italian state radio broadcaster, established to provide orchestral, choral and operatic repertoire for radio broadcasts during the interwar period. Its output combined symphonic, choral and lighter theatrical material arranged for radio broadcasts, contributing to the dissemination of classical and operatic repertoire across Italy and later underwent organisational changes as EIAR became RAI in the post-war period.
