The Auteurs

The Auteurs are an English alternative rock band formed in London in 1991, emerging from the early 1990s indie scene and often associated with Britpop and indie-pop sensibilities. Their music combined literate, melodic songwriting with glam and classic-pop influences and, over successive albums, moved from concise, hook-driven arrangements to darker, more abrasive and orchestral textures that reflected a particular strand of 1990s British alternative culture.
