Jerzy Semkow

Jerzy Semkow was a Polish conductor born in 1928 who began his conducting career in the mid-20th century and worked principally in the classical symphonic and operatic repertoire. Across a career that took him to orchestras and opera houses in Europe and North America, he advocated Polish and Central European works alongside a broad repertoire that included traditional symphonic literature and 20th-century compositions.
