Runhild Gammelsæter is a Norwegian vocalist who came to the Pacific Northwest in the mid-1990s and became the frontwoman of the death/doom band Thorr's Hammer, a group formed in Seattle that performed heavy, slow-tempo extreme metal with lyrics in Norwegian. Her musical approach blended guttural, ritualistic vocal delivery with dense, low-tuned riffing and experimental textures, and she subsequently divided her time between musical projects, intermittent reunions and other creative and academic pursuits.
