Harlan Howard
Harlan Howard was an American country music songwriter born in Detroit, Michigan, who began his professional career in the 1950s after relocating to Nashville. Known for straightforward, narrative songs rooted in honky-tonk and traditional country and credited with popularising the phrase "three chords and the truth", his compositions became a staple of the Nashville songwriting tradition and were widely recorded across country and pop genres.
