José Pablo Moncayo

José Pablo Moncayo was a Mexican composer, pianist and conductor born in Guadalajara in 1912 who trained at the National Conservatory in Mexico City and began his professional career in the 1930s within the classical and orchestral tradition. His work fused Mexican folk rhythms and melodies with symphonic forms, and he contributed to mid-20th-century Mexican classical music through compositions, conducting and teaching.
