Elijah is an oratorio by Felix Mendelssohn, composed and first performed in 1846. The work blends Romantic-era choral and orchestral writing with dramatic choruses, solo passages and orchestral interludes, and represents a major contribution to Mendelssohn's output and to 19th-century sacred music.
