Serenades for Strings

Album by Antonín Dvořák & Josef Suk & Sukův komorní orchestr

Serenade for Strings is an orchestral composition by Czech composer Antonín Dvořák, composed in 1875 and first performed in 1876. The work is a late-Romantic string serenade characterised by lyrical, folk-inflected melodies, dance-like rhythms and transparent string textures, and it occupies a place in Dvořák's early-middle period as he developed his national Romantic voice within classical forms.
