Seven Last Words from the Cross is a choral-orchestral work by Scottish composer James MacMillan, composed in 1993. The piece draws on contemporary classical and liturgical traditions, combining intense choral writing, solo vocal reflections and vivid orchestration with prominent brass and percussion to meditate on the Passion and to illustrate MacMillan's sustained engagement with large-scale sacred music in his career.
