Symphony no. 9 in C “The Great”

Album by Franz Schubert & Antwerp Symphony Orchestra & Philippe Herreweghe

Symphony No. 9 in C major, nicknamed "The Great", is a symphony by Franz Schubert composed in 1825–1826. It is characterised by expansive structures, broad orchestration and long-spun lyrical themes, and occupies a late position in Schubert's output that illustrates the transition from Classical formal principles to the expressive scope of the early Romantic era.
