The Four Seasons
Album by Antonio Vivaldi & Gunars Larsens & Rudolf Baumgartner & Festival Strings Lucerne
The Four Seasons is a set of four violin concertos by Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi, published in 1725. Written in the Baroque style, the work employs vivid solo violin writing, evocative rhythmic gestures and contrasting textures to depict seasonal scenes, and it forms the opening group of Vivaldi's Op. 8 collection as an early example of programme instrumental music.
