Lachrimae, or Seaven Teares
Album by John Dowland & Randi Stene & Rolf Lislevand & Norsk Barokkorkester
Lachrimae, or Seaven Teares is a collection of consort music by English lutenist and composer John Dowland, first published in 1604. The pieces are built around a melancholic lute motif rendered in a series of pavans and variations for viol consort, exemplifying late Renaissance English chamber music and contributing to the repertoire for lute and viol consorts at the turn of the 17th century.
