Cello Concertos nos. 1 & 2

Album by Dmitri Borisovich Kabalevsky & Marina Tarasova & Symphony Orchestra of Russia & Veronika Dudarova

Dmitri Kabalevsky composed two cello concertos: the first in G minor, Op. 49, completed in 1949, and the second in C minor, Op. 77, completed in 1964. The First Concerto, part of a trilogy dedicated to young performers, features a traditional three-movement structure with a 'fast-slow-fast' sequence, while the Second Concerto adopts a more innovative 'slow-fast-slow' pattern, reflecting a darker and more expressive character.
First released: 2001
