Double Concerto in A minor, Op. 102

Album by Johannes Brahms & David Fiodorovich Oistrakh & Mstislav Rostropovich & The Cleveland Orchestra & George Szell

Double Concerto in A minor, Op. 102 is a double concerto for violin and cello by Johannes Brahms, composed in 1887. The work combines symphonic breadth with chamber-like interplay between the soloists and orchestra, characterised by autumnal lyricism, contrapuntal textures and dense harmonic writing, and it is the last orchestral composition Brahms completed, representing a culmination of his late style.
