Mass is a music-theatre work by American composer Leonard Bernstein, premiered in 1971. The work combines classical choral and orchestral forces with elements drawn from Broadway, jazz and rock within a liturgical framework, and it stands in Bernstein's later output as a large-scale experiment aiming to bridge sacred ritual and contemporary popular idioms.
