Proto Punk

Proto-Punk emerged in the mid-1960s, primarily in the bustling streets of New York and Detroit, when a few audacious musicians decided that three chords and a snarl were far more exhilarating than the elaborate melodies of the day. It's characterised by raw energy, primitive guitar riffs, and an almost anarchic attitude, making it sound like a garage band’s very first rehearsal—if that rehearsal had something to prove and a penchant for leather jackets. This genre laid the groundwork for punk rock, proving that anger and attitude could be packaged as music, even if the whole affair resembled a delightful mess most of the time.
