Postminimalism emerged in the late 1960s and 1970s, primarily in the United States, when composers thought, 'Less is indeed more, but what if we added a touch more and called it clever?' It's characterised by an indulgent blend of repetition and rich textures, making it sound like minimalism put on a fancy hat for a night out, complete with a cheeky wink. It’s the sort of music that makes you contemplate deep existential questions or perhaps just wonder where you left your coffee.
