Minimal Drum And Bass
Minimal Drum and Bass emerged in the late 1990s, largely as an antidote to the chaotic intensity of mainstream drum and bass, which was like a party where everyone forgot the music was supposed to be the main attraction. This genre is characterised by stripped-back beats, subtle textures, and a less is more philosophy, making it sound as if the DJ lost half their records on the way to the gig but still managed to throw an excellent rave. It has cultivated a niche following that appreciates a good drop, but more importantly, values the art of listening rather than just shouting about it in the middle of the dancefloor.
