Microsound

Microsound surfaced in the late 1990s as a way for clever musicians to create entire tracks from the tiniest sounds imaginable, because clearly the world needed more high-tech whispers. Characterised by its delicate textures and seemingly random glitches, it’s the sort of music that makes you feel as though you're trying to catch a whisper on the wind, if the wind were chock-full of tiny recordings of fax machines and crickets. As a bonus, it’s perfect background noise for any hipster coffee shop aiming for that elusive 'artsy yet vaguely anxious' ambience.
