Jazzcore

Jazzcore emerged in the late 1980s, primarily in America, where, apparently, someone thought that blending the chaos of hardcore punk with the improvisational flair of jazz could create something revolutionary. The result is a raucous mash-up that features frenetic tempos, unconventional time signatures, and a fair bit of screaming, which would quite likely make your average jazz enthusiast clutch their pearls in shock. It’s as if the jazz community answered the punk rockers’ challenge with a cheeky wink and a cup of tea, proving once and for all that you can indeed play with fire and still keep your bowler hat on straight.
