Japanese Rock
Japanese Rock, or J-Rock for the uninitiated, burst onto the scene in the late 1960s, when a few adventurous souls decided that mimicking The Beatles was not nearly ambitious enough. It combines infectious melodies with anything from punk energy to progressive rock chaos, and if you think the lead singer's hair is wild, just wait until you hear the guitar solos. While the genre has given us everything from theatrical performances to catchy anthems, a delightful tidbit is that some fans have been known to stage dive into the crowd... only to discover that their mates are far too busy snapping selfies to catch them.
