Indie Randb

Indie R&B emerged in the early 2000s, primarily as a cheeky little sibling to mainstream R&B, strutting out of places like the UK and the US with a sound that often feels both polished and half-baked, depending on who's at the helm. It's characterised by smooth vocals layered over eclectic production, often featuring a delightful mishmash of vintage samples and contemporary beats, making it sound like a late-night jam session gone fabulously right—or wrong, if we're being honest. This genre is a favourite amongst coffee shop poets and those who spend too long contemplating life whilst looking out of train windows, proving that introspection and a good groove can go hand in hand, or at least share the same playlist.
