Horror Punk
Horror Punk emerged in the late 1970s, primarily in the UK and the US, as a rather cheeky reaction to the horrors of everyday life, combining the raw energy of punk with macabre themes and imagery. Musically, it sounds like someone thrashing their guitar whilst narrating tales of ghosts and ghouls, all delivered with a healthy dose of irony and often a knack for catchy tunes. It’s like punk’s slightly unhinged cousin who shows up at the family reunion wearing a corpse bridesmaid dress and telling everyone about the time they got chased by a zombie.
