Hauntology

Hauntology emerged in the late 1990s, primarily from the UK, when musicians decided that nostalgia could be an art form and that old cassette tapes were the perfect way to demonstrate this rather peculiar notion. Characterised by ghostly samples, eerie atmospheres, and a peculiar blend of digital decay and analogue warmth, it sounds like having a nice cuppa whilst reminiscing about forgotten British TV shows. The genre is a cheeky reminder that the past can be as compelling as the present, provided you have enough fog machines and melancholic melodies.
