Emo Pop

Emo Pop emerged in the early 2000s as a curious blend of angst-ridden lyrics and catchy melodies, effectively making heartbreak sound like a sing-along at a sleepover. Characterised by its jovial juxtaposition of emotional sincerity and upbeat instrumentals, it often feels like a group therapy session, but with more eyeliner. It quickly became a favourite among teenagers, proving that sometimes crying in public is really just a part of growing up, preferably whilst wearing a skinny tie.
