Djent

Djent emerged in the late 2000s, predominantly from the UK, when a few guitarists decided that traditional metal wasn’t heavy enough unless you could also make it sound like a malfunctioning robot. Characterised by choppy, palm-muted guitar riffs and complex time signatures, it sounds like a rhythmic puzzle that some might find thrilling while others might question their life choices. With its intricate sound and a dedicated following, it has somehow spawned enough subgenres to confuse anyone who isn’t fond of overthinking their music.
