Detroit Rock

Detroit Rock emerged in the 1960s from the heart of Michigan, proving that industrial decay could spawn some of the loudest and most raucous music known to humankind; it’s like the sound of a factory closing down, but everyone threw a party instead. Characterised by straightforward riffs, a raw, gritty sound, and sometimes lyrics that sound suspiciously like a paint-by-numbers account of teenage angst, it blends garage rock with the kind of attitude that makes you want to don a leather jacket and rev your engine - even if you're still on the bus. Fun fact: it's practically a rite of passage that if you're from Detroit, you either know a guy in a band or at least have heard them yelling in the garage next door.
