Concert Band
Concert Band music, which blossomed in the United States during the late 19th century, is essentially what happens when a bunch of musicians realise that marching around is all well and good, but sitting down can be rather lovely too. Characterised by its array of woodwinds, brass, and percussion, it sounds like a brass band found itself a good set of harmonies and decided to throw a bit of orchestral finesse in for good measure. Surprisingly, this genre has been responsible for more school concert programmes than any number of questionable pop hits, proving that not all musical paths lead to fame and fortune—or TikTok dances, for that matter.
