Christian Rap
Christian Rap sprouted in the late 1980s, primarily in the United States, as artists decided that rapping about faith was a splendid alternative to being told to put their hands in the air for the ninetieth time. Characterised by its uplifting themes, infectious beats, and the occasional nod to scripture, it often sounds like a church service had a slightly awkward dance-off with a hip hop concert. The genre has been known to influence pop culture, demonstrating that even the most devout can get down whilst praising—one might say it’s divine intervention on the charts.
