Christian Hip Hop
Christian Hip Hop emerged in the late 1980s, primarily in the United States, when some enterprising souls decided that faith and funky beats could coexist quite nicely, thank you very much. It typically features raps about spiritual themes and biblical references, which can be a refreshing change from the usual lyrical fare, although sometimes they sound like a Sunday school lesson with a snazzy beat. The genre has not only made waves in gospel circles but also created a niche where hip hop fans can nod their heads whilst simultaneously feeling uplifted, which is quite the talent if you think about it.
