Britrock
Britrock, a cheeky offspring of the Britpop explosion in the 1990s, emerged amidst the haze of lager and football chants in the UK, where guitar riffs were more ubiquitous than the Queen’s face on a tenner. Musically, it marries the catchy hooks of pop with the rawness of rock, making it as accessible as a chip butty yet significantly less greasy. Its cultural impact was such that even the most stony-faced rock critic had to admit it threw a lifebuoy to the sinking ship of British music, all whilst wearing a parka, of course.
