Berlin School
Berlin School emerged in the early 1970s, birthed by a group of German musicians who cleverly realised that synthesizers could make music that sounded like it was from another planet, or at least a particularly zealous science fiction film. Characterised by its lengthy, hypnotic compositions and copious use of loops and sequencers, it often feels like you're being gently led on a cosmic journey whilst someone flips through a particularly avant-garde magazine. It's a genre beloved by those who prefer to lose track of time in a blissful soundscape rather than engage in any actual conversation.
