Ambient Rock

Ambient rock emerged in the late 1960s, when artists decided that traditional song structures were just too orderly and you could, in fact, make music that sounded as if it was gently drifting in a dream. Characterised by long, atmospheric soundscapes, it’s like being wrapped in a fluffy blanket of sonic textures while pondering the meaning of life or, more likely, trying to recall what you went into the kitchen for. Some might argue it’s the perfect soundtrack for both introspection and lying on the couch, avoiding responsibilities like a pro.
