Afropop

Afropop sprouted in the late 20th century as African musicians blended traditional sounds with pop and Western influences, presumably because they thought making a few more bangers couldn’t hurt. Characterised by its infectious rhythms and vibrant melodies, it often sounds like the world’s happiest dance party, proving that even the most serious issues can be tackled with a good groove. You could say it’s the musical equivalent of a sun-soaked holiday; everybody’s invited, and no one leaves without a smile.
