Ikue Mori is a Japanese-born drummer and electronic musician who moved to New York in the late 1970s and began her career in the downtown no wave scene as a member of the band DNA. She subsequently transitioned from angular, rhythmic drumming to using drum machines, samplers and laptop-based electronics, developing an approach centred on real-time processing and improvisation that has led to extensive collaborations within avant-garde, jazz and experimental music circles.
