Clément Janequin

Clément Janequin was a French Renaissance composer, born around 1485 and active in Paris and the Loire Valley during the early to mid-16th century, whose career centred on secular vocal music. His output includes programmatic chansons that imitate natural and man-made sounds, such as bird calls and battle noises, alongside sacred works including masses and motets, and these pieces contributed to the Parisian chanson tradition.
