Edmar Castañeda is a Colombian harpist from Bogotá who began his professional career after relocating to New York City and works primarily within jazz and Latin American folk traditions. He adapts the traditional Colombian arpa llanera for jazz contexts, using extended techniques, improvisation and rhythmic vocabulary drawn from Colombian and broader Latin American styles to expand the harp's role in contemporary jazz and world-music settings.
