Sir Lennox Berkeley

English composer Lennox Berkeley was born in London and began his career in the 1920s after studies in Britain and France, working primarily in twentieth-century classical music. His music is characterised by neoclassical clarity, lyrical melodies and a largely tonal language with occasional modernist touches, spanning operas, chamber works, orchestral pieces and film scores that played a part in mid-century British musical life.
