Dory Previn was an American singer-songwriter and lyricist from Rahway, New Jersey, who began her career writing film lyrics in the 1950s before emerging as a solo artist in the late 1960s and 1970s, often associated with folk, pop and singer-songwriter traditions. Her work was characterised by candid, autobiographical lyrics that addressed mental health, relationships and social issues, evolving from film-oriented collaborations to intimate solo recordings that combined folk, piano-led and orchestral arrangements.
