Thomas Strønen is a Norwegian drummer and composer who emerged from the Trondheim jazz scene in the 1990s and has led a range of ensembles spanning modern jazz, chamber-jazz and contemporary improvised music. He blends acoustic percussion with electronics and uses composed frameworks that leave space for collective improvisation, with a stylistic evolution towards sparse, textural approaches and cross-disciplinary projects within the Scandinavian and wider European jazz context.
