Joshua Abrams is an American composer and multi-instrumentalist based in Chicago who began his career in the 1990s and works primarily in jazz, experimental and minimal music, leading the ensemble Natural Information Society. His work blends double bass and guimbri-driven repetitive modal grooves with elements of minimalism, folk and North African Gnawa traditions, evolving from collaborations in Chicago's post-rock and improvised music scenes into sustained, trance-like ensemble compositions that intersect contemporary experimental and jazz contexts.
