Sonny Sharrock

Sonny Sharrock was an American guitarist from Ossining, New York, whose career began in the late 1960s and who became associated with free jazz and the avant-garde. His playing was characterised by aggressive, heavily distorted electric guitar and extended techniques that blended elements of rock and noise with free-jazz improvisation, and he later participated in high-energy free-jazz and noise ensembles within the experimental jazz scene.
