Nikolai Nikolayevich Tcherepnin

Николай Николаевич Черепнин was a Russian composer, pianist and conductor born in Saint Petersburg in 1873 who trained at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory and began his career in the early 20th century within the Russian classical and orchestral tradition. His music combines late-Romantic orchestration and Russian folk influences with early modernist harmonic and rhythmic elements, and he worked as a conductor and teacher with involvement in ballet and operatic repertoire.
