Ben Allison

Ben Allison is an American jazz bassist and composer who began his career in the early 1990s after moving to New York City, leading ensembles rooted in modern and avant-garde jazz. His music blends post-bop, avant-garde and folk-rock influences with ensemble-based compositions that emphasise melodic interplay and formal structure, and over his career he has explored both small acoustic groups and larger chamber-jazz configurations within the New York scene.
