Alfred Bruneau
Alfred Bruneau was a French composer born in Paris in 1857 who became active from the 1880s and worked primarily in opera, vocal and orchestral music. Associated with the naturalist movement and through collaborations with contemporary writers such as Émile Zola, his music is characterised by dramatic realism, declamatory vocal lines and vivid orchestral colour that engage with contemporary literary and social themes.
