Alexander Alyabiev

Alexander Alyabyev was a Russian composer born in Tobolsk in 1787 who was active in the early 19th century and worked primarily in vocal and operatic genres, composing numerous art songs (romances) and stage works. Marked by lyrical melodies and the incorporation of folk-like elements into classical forms, his romances entered the Russian salon and vocal repertoire and contributed to the development of the 19th-century Russian art song.
