Tony Levin is an American bassist and Chapman Stick player from Boston, Massachusetts, who began his professional career in the late 1960s and is associated with progressive rock, jazz fusion and extensive session work. His playing uses fingerstyle, slap and arco techniques across electric and upright bass and Chapman Stick, and his long career of collaborations with progressive and experimental acts has helped introduce Stick textures, improvisational approaches and world-influenced sounds into rock and fusion contexts.
